Brief Bio
Dr Ahmed HAFAIFA is Senior Lecturer in Industrial Process: Automation / Diagnosis and Reliability Engineering at the Science and Technology Faculty of the University of Djelfa, Algeria. Teaching advanced Reliability Engineering, Diagnosis for engineering applications and Fuzzy control and Reliability in industrial plants in the Science and Technology Faculty of the University of Djelfa, Algeria and doing his research work in the Applied Automation and Industrial Diagnostic Laboratory of the University of Djelfa. He is the director of the Applied Automation and Industrial Diagnostic Laboratory of the University of Djelfa. The research interest of Dr Ahmed HAFAIFA begun with the modelling and control in industrial systems, include now the diagnosis and new reliability engineering, fault detection and isolation in industrials process, intelligent system based on fuzzy logic and neural networks. He has supervised several Master students and written many papers in archival journals.

Dr Abdelhamid IRATNI is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Bordj Bou Arreridj, ALGERIA, where he has been a faculty member since 2003.He is currently Head of electromechanical program in the Faculty of Science and Technology. Iratni completed his Ph.D. at Setif University (ALGERIA) and his undergraduate studies at BoumerdesUniversity(ALGERIA).His research interests lie in the area of theory and application of automatic control with emphasis on nonlinear and complex systems.In recent years, he has focused on robust nonlinear techniques for measurement, estimation, and control of biotechnological process. Iratni has served on over twenty conference and workshop program committees. He has served on the ICEEA’2013 Steering Committee.

SCOPE

Bioprocesses, constituting an important part of biotechnological processes, have grown considerably in recent years and have a promising future. Whether the production of vaccines, yeast fermentation for the food industry, or the biological wastewater treatment, numerous applications and products are of great interest to human being, therefore, modeling, simulation, control and optimization of bioprocesses occupy a prominent place in the engineering processes.
The main aim in this special session on bioprocesses automation systems is to give the opportunity for participants from different countries to examine the progress related to new approaches in modeling, simulation, control and optimization of bioprocesses, with its various industrial applications.
